Review guidelines
Rate.My.Flat documents experiences and facts. It is not a place to attack people. These rules exist to keep the data useful for renters and defensible for us.
Please do
- Describe what happened to you, in the home you actually lived in.
- Give timeframes: “repairs took 3 days”, “deposit returned in 5 weeks”.
- Rate the structured questions honestly, including the good parts.
- Say what you wish you had known before signing.
We remove
- Naming individuals, phone numbers, ID numbers or flat numbers of current residents.
- Accusations of crime or fraud — report those to the authorities, not here.
- Second-hand accounts, rumours, or experiences from a friend's flat.
- Anything about a person's religion, caste, nationality or family status.
Verification, privately
You can upload a rental agreement, a rent payment record or a utility bill. We read it, store it privately, and publish only a badge such as “Verified tenant · lived here 14 months”. Documents are never shown to landlords or other users.
Corrections and disputes
A landlord or manager can claim a building profile, respond publicly once per experience, and flag a factual error. Flagged claims are checked against evidence; unverifiable factual claims are removed, opinions are not. Reviewers can edit or withdraw their own experience at any time, and retaliation reports are prioritised.
